Partnership
University-High School
Youth Fusion establishes novel partnerships between high schools and universities in order to counter dropout rates by engaging teenagers in activities that stimulate them. The formula is simple: Youth Fusion sends university students, working as project coordinators, into high schools to implement projects that motivate teenagers to stay in school, and strengthen their school spirit and sense of belonging.
Our program goes beyond mentoring. The university students work 15 hours a week in their designated high schools for the entire 36 weeklong school year.
High school is an important step in a teenager’s academic career. The creation of these paid positions for university students fosters intergenerational exchanges, and enables high school students to make a difference by contributing to the improvement of their communities, and their own academic success. Moreover, this program offers valuable professional experiences to the university students, allowing them to act as role models, and agents of social change.
