PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY AND JAMES LYNG HIGH SCHOOL
A Concordia student in Political Science helped students develop a civic-minded student council that now works with the school’s administration to implement more civic education, and promote democratic engagement and sustainability at James Lyng high school.
Youth Fusion develops projects in democracy and politics in order to promote citizenry and responsibility among high school students.
15 students participated in the student council, which was responsible for the following aspects of student life:
1. Represent the voice of the student body.
2. Write a constitution for the student body so as to better understand the processes of democratic institutions.
3. Prepare elections to promote voter participation and civic duties.
4. Organize debates based on different themes that affect youth and society.
